The Old Barn building has been a staple in my city for over 70 years now, and unfortunately, it's days are finally numbered. The Old Barn originally sold agricultural feed, seeds and other equipment at the site under the name Conlon and Donnelly. More recently, it sold primarily pet needs and
lawn and garden care items, but still carried hard to find agricultural items as well. Where else could you find stuff like organic fertilizers, a rabbit
hutch, black oil sunflower seeds, flea treatments, hay, or a treatment for split horse hooves all
under one roof in the middle of an industrial city? You can't.
The building is set to be demolished by the middle of March, to make way for a revitalization plan the city has high hopes for. My guess is, it'll get razed and end up a parking lot, like so many other historic locations around here have.
