The Millrace Tunnels

I can't find much information about the millrace system itself, but from what I can find they were constructed sometime in the mid 1800's.  Millrace's were used for conducting water to or from a waterwheel to utilize its energy. The race leading to the water wheel is called the head race, and the race leading away from the wheel is called the tail race. We only spent a few hours in the knee deep mud before calling it a day on this trip, but we'll return to explore the entire system.
